CITY AND GUILDS LEAD WELDING AND BOSSING COURSE
CITY AND GUILDS QUALIFICATION AND ACCREDITED BY THE LEAD SHEET TRAINING ACADEMY - LEAD WELDING AND BOSSING COURSE:
This is an introductory 5 day course leading to a City and Guilds qualification for those with little or no experience of leadwork. It covers basic bossing and welding and can be delivered at our training centres in Exeter, Melksham and Hereford or remotely depending on numbers. Both elements of the course are eligible for Tier 2, £70 completion grants from the CITB. The SWRTG are an ATO and will claim this grant back on your behalf.
BOSSING: bossing is the method used to shape and form lead sheet into complex shapes and joints without leaving tool marks or causing any significant reduction in the thickness of the metal. Candidates will cover, and undertake:
Half front apron
Internal and External corners
WELDING: welding is the alternative method for shaping lead and can also be used when sheets need to be joined together. Candidates will cover, and undertake:
Incline welding and gusset corner
Welded back gutter
Both methods must be achieved neatly and without compromising the weatherproofing quality of the installation. They demand a high degree of skill and knowledge.
This course can be deliverer as a 5 day course or it can be taken as two modular blocks of 2.5 days.
At the end of the welding module, candidates are formally assessed on their fabrication of a welded back gutter and at the end of the bossing module, candidates are formally assessed on forming a bossed back gutter.
COST: 5 DAYS – lead welding & bossing £650.00 + VAT per delegate (City and Guilds qualification)
2.5 DAYS – 2.5 days lead welding £450 + VAT per delegate (LSTA Accreditation)
2.5 DAYS – 2.5 days lead bossing £250 + VAT per delegate (LSTA Accreditation)
